“Tom Kane’s ‘Common Sense’ Pothole Fix: A Bag of Cement & A Garden Trowel”

Atherton, UK – Residents are scratching their heads after local legend and self-proclaimed “man of the people” Tom Kane was spotted at 6am this morning filling a crater-sized pothole on Plodder Lane with a single bag of ready-mix concrete and a rusty garden trowel.

According to eyewitnesses, Kane, 68, was seen muttering about “elf ’n safety gone mad” and “common sense solutions” as he attempted to level the road while traffic built up behind him.

“It’s absolutely bonkers,” said local resident and furious Facebook commenter, Sandra M. “He’s blocked half the road, his ‘fix’ looks like a lopsided wedding cake, and now the school run is a 45-minute standoff. What happened to just calling the council? Oh, that’s right—Tom says they’re ’too busy paying woke consultants.’ Common sense? More like common nonsense. This is why we can’t have nice things.”

The amateur roadworks have since been cordoned off with a single traffic cone stolen from a nearby building site. The council has been contacted for comment, but sources say they are “utterly baffled.”
