HEADLINE: SONY’S LATEST ‘PLUS’ IS ACTUALLY A MINUS – $79.99 A YEAR FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF LOADING SCREENS?

Alright, I’m not one to usually rant about video games, but I saw the local news feed this morning and my blood hit the boiling point. Sony is jacking up the price of PlayStation Plus again. The basic Essential tier? Going up to $79.99 a year. Deluxe? Over a hundred bucks.

Common sense, people. Common sense.

Did anyone ask for this? They give us the same five-year-old games, servers that disconnect mid-raid, and now they want us to pay more than a streaming service that actually shows new movies. My mortgage went up. My grocery bill went up. But sure, let’s send more money to a foreign corporation so my kid can stare at a “Downloading Update” screen for three hours while they charge me for the privilege.

I don’t care if it’s “only” a few bucks a month. That’s the kind of thinking that lets them nickel and dime us to death. First it’s $10 more for Plus, next they’ll charge $2.99 per load screen. It’s greed, pure and simple, wrapped up in a blue logo.

Cancel your subscription. Go play outside. Read a book. Stop paying for the right to rent games you don’t even own. That’s just common sense.
