You know, I try to keep my mouth shut. I really do. But I just watched my neighbor, Steve from 3 doors down, pour an entire 12-pack of Mountain Dew White Out into a kiddie pool, add dry ice, and then try to “clean” his lawnmower engine with the mixture. I am NOT kidding.

He posted it on his TikTok this morning, caption: “DIY bio-fuel hack for the apocalypse.” The video has 47,000 views already. 47,000 people think this is a good idea.

Now there’s a low-hanging cloud of citrus-bleach vapor drifting over my fence. My hydrangeas are wilting. My dog sneezes every time he walks outside. And Steve? He’s standing in his driveway wearing safety goggles and rubber gloves, taking a selfie with a bucket of green sludge.

I’m all for common sense, people. But when did “common sense” become “I’m going to combine a discontinued soda with industrial ice and pretend I’m a chemist”? This is the same guy who tried to use a shop-vac to unclog his gutters last fall.

Let’s use our heads out here. Mountain Dew White Out is for drinking (if you’re brave enough), not for terraforming your backyard into a Superfund site.
